2015 - Daft Punk Guy-Manuel Helmet

I started this helmet shortly after completing the previous one on Halloween. Same as before, we started with the paper template to make sure I got the sizing correct.

To reinforce the helmet I used fiberglass cloth and resin. Applied outdoors then brought inside after it cured a little. Went back to the spackle and it sanded great. I did the visor as well since we actually have to form the plastic the same shape using a new method.

So far so good. The helmet was primed to visually determine the imperfections. Went through the endless cycle of priming and sanding. When complete the visor was separated from the rest of the helmet. The cutting was a bit rough since all I had was a dremel.

For the electronics, I honestly cheated a bit. I was way short on time so I didn't have time to program my own animations. I found an LED sequencer on Ebay for like $10, removed the LEDs it came with and rigged the new LED bars myself.

Quick vid of the LED sequencer in action.

One of the guys that I worked with was actually building the same helmet so he made a vacuum table so that we can heat up and form the visor out of the mold we cut out earlier. Overall it came out okay on the 1st try.

Now we get to the detailing! At the time I wanted to copy the wiring sequence but references were hard to find and I ran out of wire towards the end... Did a test fit of the LED bars prior to tinting the visor.
